Make Ahead and Fry for a Crowd
Delicious mozzarella string cheese wrapped in egg roll, wonton, or dumpling wrappers. Easy to roll and wrap up, then they fry up in less than three minutes. Adding pepperoni inside basically makes fried wonton pizza rolls when you dip them in marinaria sauce.
One package of wonton or dumpling wrappers has about 50 pieces, which can make a lot of fried wonton recipes, check out the recipes below.
Prep them up to 2 days ahead of time and fry them right before serving. Frying takes less than 3 minutes per batch, you’ll be done in not time.
Make just enough for a crowd, approximately 6- 8 pieces per person for an appetizer. One package of wonton or dumpling wrappers can serve about 7 people.
How to make Wonton Mozzarella Sticks?
- Cut regular size mozzarella sticks into three pieces, approx 2 inches.
- Place a touch of water on all four edges of the wonton wrapper.
- Place a small piece of mozzarella stick into the middle of the wrapper.
4. Let's roll up. Fold the sides, right, left, and up. Place a touch of water on the top edge.
5. Seal the edge with a fork, just to make sure it’s sealed well.

How to make pizza sticks?
- Cut regular size mozzarella sticks into three pieces, approx 2 inches.
- Place a touch of water on all four edges of the wonton wrapper.
- Place three pieces of mini pepperoni under the small piece of mozzarella stick in the middle of the wrapper.
4. Let's roll and fold the sides, right, left and up.
5. Seal well with a fork.
6. Ready to Fry.
7. When frying the wontons the temperature should be approximately 350 - 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Try to keep your frying oil around that temperature or medium heat, so the outside wonton wrapper will not brown too quickly. So the cheesy inside will be melty and gooey.
8. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces, I like a marinara sauce. Other ideas are ranch, sweet and sour, bbq, honey mustard or spicy hot sauce.

Ingredients
- 24 Wonton Wrappers
- 8 Mozzarella Sticks
- 36 pieces Mini Pepperoni
- Oil For Frying & Water
Instructions
- Cut your standard-size mozzarella stick into three equal pieces.
- Grab a wonton wrapper and place a touch of water along all four corners of the wrapper (See blog post and video for a visual how-to).
- Place a piece of your mozzarella stick in the middle on a wonton wrapper and 3 mini pieces of pepperoni if making the pepperoni pizza wontons, fold up and seal tightly (See blog post and video for a visual how-to). Can also use a fork to put pressure along the edging.
- Fry in oil a few at a time on medium heat until golden brown.
- Place on paper towels and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces. Enjoy.
