Fast and simple mix, press all the ingredients into the pie pan. The Best 6 Inch Small Pie Crust Recipe.

This recipe is similar to my Easy No Roll Pie Crust that fits a 8-10 inch pie pan.

Ingredients and Substitutions

Flour - I used Unbleached All-Purpose. Can also use gluten-free flour as a substitute.

Butter - Salted or Unsalted. Substitute oil or shortening as well.

Sugar - White or Cane Sugar - Omit the sugar if you are making savory dishes like quiche or vegetable pies.

Milk - Any Fat Content Would Be Perfect.

Equipment and Tools

The must have tools for making small pie crust, is a 6 inch in pie pan and a spoon. I used a glass 6 inch pie pan from my local grocery store but they can be easily purchased online or home goods stores.

I’ve also used disposable small pans in the past, perfect for gifting your favorite pie recipes.

Optional tools are pie weights for blind baking or foil for tenting the pie edges to prevent over baking.

Tips & Suggestions

If you would like a thinner pie crust, after mixing the dough remove some of it or reduce the flour from one cup to ¾ cup.

Make an easy decorative edge with your hands or a simple fork design. You can also forgo the edge if preferred.

How To Blind Bake

To easily blind-bake or pre-bake the pie crust you need two things parchment paper and weights. Weights can be commercial pie weights, dry beans, or dry rice.

  1. Cut the parchment paper about 4 inches longer that your pan.
  2. Crumble the parchment paper to make it more pliable.
  3. Place on top of the pie crust and add your weights.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8-9 minutes or until cooked to your preference.

How Many Does A 6 Inch Pie Serve?

A 6 inch pie can serve up to four individual servings without any leftovers.

Most small batch baking recipes says it serves two as a standard, but some recipes like pecan pie can be rich so four would be ideal.  A 6-inch quiche would be two servings in my household.

Make Ahead and Storage

Make this small pie crust ahead of time, a big batch for an event or the holidays. It can be wrapped well in freezer paper and plastic wrap and frozen for up to 3 months.
