What is a Cookie Croissant or Crookie?

The original crookie is a warm crispy and buttery croissant stuffed with chocolate chip cookie dough. It’s from a bakery called Maison Louvard in Paris, France.

If you love chocolate croissants or Pain au Chocolat this is the copycat recipe for you. It’s only two ingredients, store bought cookie dough and croissants.

Croissant

The best croissants are made from scratch and freshly baked, you really can’t beat it. A local bakery is ideal, but a grocery store can also be a great option.

My store sells them both individually wrapped and in packages of four. I purchased two all butter from Walmart's bakery section. They were pretty good and affordable at $1.24 USD.

Check out this Upside Down Puff Pastry that went viral last year on TikTok.

Two packages of store bought cookie dough. One chocolate chip and the other sugar.

Cookie Dough

Although I love homemade cookie dough, pre-made is just so convenient. I highly recommend to pick a safe to eat raw version, so you do not have worry is this cookie dough fully cooked? Possibly over cooking it and not getting that gooey texture.

Pillsbury is my pick and they have so many flavors available. If you choose to use cookie dough that needs to be fully baked, make sure the croissant has an internal temperature of 160°F.

I really wanted to recipe test a simple base flavor so mix in’s can be easily added, so I chose sugar cookie.

It turned out so good, the addition of sprinkles was the perfect funfetti flavor. Great for a birthday or celebration.

Packages and bottles of topping flavors. Sliced almonds, white chocolate, mini marshmallows, peanut butter, Nutella and toffee chips.

Leftovers and Storage

If there are any leftovers, they can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and easily reheated in the microwave or on low heat in the oven.

Both the croissant and cookie dough can be frozen for up to 3 months.  A great way to have a crookie anytime you have a craving.
