Ingredients & Substitutions
Mayonnaise - McCormick Mayonesa is recommended. You can substitute any full-fat mayo like Dukes, Hellman’s or Kraft.
Buttermilk- I used 1% but if you can find a higher fat content, I’m sure it could taste even better.
Ranch Powder- Hidden Valley Buttermilk Restaurant Style is best.

Mayonnaise
Each one of the ingredients in this ranch recipe has tangy notes, including the mayonnaise. McCormick Mayonesa has a tasty lime favor, but there are other brands that I have seen in the grocery store.
Including Walmart’s great value, Duke’s, and Hellman’s. You can also just use any regular flavor and add a touch of lime juice.
Hidden Valley Ranch
The next key ingredient in this dressing is Hidden Valley ranch packet that says “Restaurant Style Dressing”, Buttermilk recipe.
Looking at the ingredients on the packet I do not see buttermilk powder like many other packets, so adding buttermilk is a must.

- Black Pepper
- Parsley
- Lemon (Zest or Juice)
- Buffalo Sauce
- Hot Sauce
- Worcestershire sauce
- Chili Powder
- Taco Seasoning

How To Store
This ranch dressing sauce should be stored in an airtight container (bottle or jar) for up to two weeks in the refrigerator.
Make sure the buttermilk is fresh and a week prior to the sell by date.

Recipe Testing
I’ve tested the original recipe and made ratio changes the second time. I have lessened the ratios of buttermilk and mayo so the seasoning and flavors are strong.
Depending on how you like your ranch dressing texture, some like it thinner and others thicker. For a thin texture add more buttermilk and for thinner add more mayo.
The original recipe is one cup of buttermilk and one cup of mayo, plus the ranch packet.
