How To Make Bread Pudding With Condensed Milk
Other than the white bread loaf, canned sweetened condensed milk is the star of the show. It’s added to the spiced custard mixture and the brown sugar vanilla sauce.
You are going to cube up a loaf of bread and place it into a baking dish. Blend the spiced custard filling, pour it onto the bread cubes, and bake.
While the bread pudding is baking, make the warm brown sugar vanilla sauce on the stovetop. Then pour about half of the sauce onto the pudding and let it cool. Served warm with extra drizzle of the brown sugar condensed milk sauce.
Viral TikTok Bread Pudding
Bread pudding is such a comforting classic dessert and this recipe is super simple. It was shared by Sarah Marie from sarahkraffty on Tiktok.
I love that toasting the bread or “stale bread” is not required, you can just go to the grocery store and buy a white loaf. There is also no need to let the custard soak into the bread.
It’s such a versatile recipe that ingredients can be substituted, reduced and flavors added really easily. I made a few reductions and method changes to the original recipe.
Ingredients & Substitutions
Bread - Whole loaf of your favorite store white bread. Artesno bread is recommended and I chose the Brioche style.
Milk - Canned sweetened condensed milk and whole milk or half and half. I used about ½ can less in the custard filling.
Eggs- Six large whole eggs. I like a less eggy filling so I used only 4.
Butter - Salted or unsalted will be delicious.
Sugar- Brown sugar and white or cane sugar is preferred. I used about ½ cup in the custard filling.
Cinnamon - Choose your favorite ground cinnamon brand or even a pumpkin or mixed spice blend. Any warm spices would be delicious.
Extract- For a boost of flavor add a touch of pure or imitation vanilla extract.
Tips & Suggestions
This recipe uses 2 cans of condensed milk and sugar, but you can easily reduce it if you like less sweet.
If you want to make this ahead for an event, make the pudding mixture and the sauce the night before and bake the next day.
Fully baked bread pudding will have an internal temperature of 160°F.
Poke holes into the pudding before pouring the brown sugar vanilla sauce.
Let the finished bread pudding cool for an hour to allow it to set up nicely.
Add a delicious topping for an extra boost in flavor.
