Step By Step Video
It doesn’t get any easier to make a delicious pan of homemade Rice Krispies treats. They are the best no bake dessert to take to cookouts, potlucks, school bake sale, work event, or an after school snack.

Ingredients
Rice Cereal - Use any brand, but I usually grab the original Kellogg's cereal rice krispies.
Condensed Milk- The secret ingredient.
Marshmallows- The mini or large size.
Butter- Salted is recommended, but unsalted can be susituted with a sprinkle of salt.
Vanilla Extract- Adds a good flavor, use homemade if you have it.
Elevate The Flavor
To elevate the flavor of a classic Rice Krispies treat, there are a couple of simple options.

Toast The Cereal
To add extra flavor and a touch of crunch, I recommend toasting the cereal.
Preheat oven to 325ºF (160ºC). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and add cereal into an even layer.
Stir every 3 minutes, until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes.
Use Brown Butter
Using brown butter in these treats adds caramelized flavor with nutty notes. In the video, I used half brown butter and half regualr butter.
I always keep brown butter in the freezer. Check out this blog post on how to brown butter and store it.

Tips For The Best Rice Krispie Treats
Line the 9x13 baking pan with parchment paper or butter to easily remove it from the pan.
Don’t press down too firmly after placing the mixture into the pan. It will make the treats dense.
For extra tasty notes, add a sprinkle of sea salt. It balances the sweetness.
If you like really toasty flavored treats, use a kitchen torch to toast the marshmallows a bit. Broil them in the oven, but keep an eye on them, they brown fast.
For a very gooey texture with lots of marshmallow pull, use less rice cereal.
Mix in extra mini marshmallows to have bites of them within the treats, plus on the tops of them as well.

Storage and Leftovers
To keep these rice krispies stay soft for up to 4 days store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Store longer for up to a week in the refrigerator or frozen up to 3 months.
