How To Make Smash Burger Tacos
To make these easy smash burger tacos, ground beef or meat is seasoned formed into balls, topped with a flour tortilla, then pressed or flattened into a thin patty. This technique creates even browning and a crispy juicy texture.
The flour tortilla soaks up the beefy liquid and flavor, then when flipped over it crisps up nicely. Top with your favorite cheese, toppings, and a creamy burger sauce.
They can be easily made on the stove in a cast iron griddle or an outdoor flattop. Using a burger press will make pressing it down so easy.

Tips and Techniques
There are two techniques to flatten the patties. Option one, with your fingertips pressing the uncooked meat evenly onto the tortilla before placing them onto the griddle. Option two, the traditional way of flattening the meat and the tortilla with a burger press or a heavy skillet while it’s cooking on the griddle.
A heavy burger press is best. It gives you more control and ability to put pressure to flatten it evenly. I did not have one so I used a heavy cast iron skillet.
When you are flattening or pushing down the patty there will be grease and moisture that will splatter, so be careful.
The burger patty does shrink when it’s cooking, so it might not stay spread all the way to the edges.
When you flip the burger onto the tortilla side, you will notice moisture and the patty will separate a little. The flour tortilla will soak up the meaty juices and moisture while it crisps up and after it is removed from the heat (while it cools down).
Don’t over cook or crisp up the tortilla. It will become difficult to fold into a taco shape or become too flaky.
Let the smash burger taco cool for a few minutes before folding and eating.

How To Serve Smash Burger Tacos
Homemade smash burger tacos can be served with french fries, potato chips, vegetable platter and ranch, sweet potato fries, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, or side salad with dressing.
This will be a summer cookout favorite, all the traditional sides, sweets, and drinks would be perfect.
Leftovers and Storage
If there are any leftovers, it can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and easily reheated in the microwave.
