Why did this recipe go viral? The creator, Jamie’s Kitchen on TikTok and Instagram, posted her frozen green beans recipe and it does not disappoint. She calls it her Famous Green Beans because it always gets millions of views. I love that she uses whole frozen green beans. 

I’ve roasted seasoned fresh green beans on a sheet pan so many times, it’s my go to side dish. This recipe is even easier, convenient, and so simple to make with only six ingredients. No prepping or thawing.

Frozen green beans are such a time saver and very budget friendly. Grab them from the freezer, dump them into the baking pan, season, and bake. 

What’s not to love? The green beans are a bit caramelized, garlicy, and cheesy. Yum.

Ingredients and Substitutions

Green Beans - Frozen whole green beans are preferred, or the cut ones can be used in a pinch. Fresh can be substituted, they are especially good in season and on sale. 

Oil - Olive and avocado oil would be delicious.  Substitute your favorite neutral oil or even butter. 

Seasonings - Garlic powder and salt. Add sprinkle of white pepper, it’s so good trust me. Any additional seasoning or blends would be delicious. 

Parmesan Cheese - Pre-grated shelf stable parmesan is added, but freshly grated parmesan cheese would be delicious as well.

How To Make Frozen Green Beans Crispy?

Preheated oven on high heat is the easiest way to make green beans crispy and caramelized. I set the oven between 400- 450 degrees Fahrenheit and add a little avocado oil. 

Bake for about 20 minutes and tossing in between for even roasting.

Tips and Suggestions 

Keep an extra bag of frozen green beans on hand along with all the basic pantry ingredients, so you an easily whip up this side dish anytime. 

Add lemon zest for a punch of flavor.

Preheat your oven first because this recipe comes together quickly. 

Make sure to check over your green beans for any untrimmed ones. You can easily break them off. 

Serve them alone side honey mustard or ranch dressing, almost like green bean fries. 

From the oven you can take the baking dish right to the dinner table. Don’t forget to sprinkle the parmesan cheese. 

Swap the parmesan for feta or pecorino romano cheese. 

Don’t want to turn on the oven? Dump them into the air fryer at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8 minutes. Tossing about half way and roasting to your preferred texture. 

Keep or substitute the parmesan and sprinkle more flavor like balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, cooked bacon, or red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.

This is the perfect vegetable side dish alongside a pasta dish, casserole, or meat entree.

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grab all the ingredients, bag of frozen green beans, oil, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and salt. Optional is white pepper and other spices you would like to add.

3. In a 9x13 baking dish dump in the frozen green beans and spread into an even layer.
